J D Fage
John Donnelly Fage (1921-2002) was educated at Cambridge. He first became interested in Africa when his service with the Royal Air Force took him to various parts of the continent. In a long collaboration with Roland Oliver, his cntemporary at Cambridge, he founded the Journal of African History. Together they also edited the eight-volume Cambridge History of Africa.
